The war between Sun and Kalaignar TV just got hotter. Kalaignar TV’s delayed music channel ‘Isai Aruvi’ – (Musical falls or flow) – has launched. The channel, which launched yesterday at 11am, was originally scheduled to launch last November 2007. The ‘Isai Aruvi’ logo is the same as that of Kalaignar TV with the addition of animated musical notes. Kalaignar TV has been carrying animated promos of Tollywood actors Rajnikanth and Ajith dancing together since the past few days.
According to media reports and blogs, the first program began with a film song whose lyrics were penned by Kalaignar de facto supremo, DMK top boss and Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi, which was followed by chartbusters from the new movies, ‘Billa’, ‘Bheema’ and ‘Kaalai’.
”‘Isai Aruvi’ is Kalaignars copy of Sun TV’s Sun Music channel,” says a Tamil channel viewer in Bangalore. “Kalaignar has been copying most of Sun TV’s programs, some of them (Kalaignar’s programs) seem to perfect clones of Sun TV. Even in the case of Kalaignar’s music channel – the programs seem similar to Sun Music. But this is because Kalaignar has taken an entire team from Sun, hence the programs are so similar,” adds the viewer who seems to be an avid Sun TV fan
Kalaignar TV had also announced a news channel to be launched in December, but this is yet to get off. Kalaignar ally Raj TV has also announced a music channel whose tagline reads ‘a music channel with a difference’.
