The teaser campaign for the new channel featuring Bengali actors like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Koel Mallick, Srabanti, and Subhashree Ganguly has kicked off.
Sun Bangla will be competing with existing player Aakash Aath, Colors Bangla, Ruposhi Bangla, Sony Aath, Star Jalsha, and Zee Bangla
Sun Bangla will be Sun TV Network’s first channel outside the South India market. After Sun Bangla, the broadcaster will train its guns on the Maharashtra market. The Marathi GEC titled Sun Marathi will launch in FY20.
Both Sun Bangla and Sun Marathi will be free to air (FTA) channels.
The broadcaster plans to invest Rs 150 crore on its Sun Bangla in its first year of operation. It had launched flanking Tamil GEC Sun Life in October 2017 with an initial investment of Rs 30-40 crore.
In 2018, ZuperStar.com first reported that the Southern broadcast behemoth, Kalanithi Maran-owned Sun TV Network intended to travel to new regions of the country – Marathi and Bengali.
