Going ahead with its plans of expansion, KidsCo an international children’s entertainment brand has tied knot with India’s NDTV limited to make entry into Indian broadcasting space. The channel has moved this way after launching successfully in markets of Hong Kong, Indonesia and Taiwan.
Under the distribution agreement, The Indian partner NDTV will market the content of KidsCo on all the three DTH, Cable TV and Digital Platforms across the country.
In a press statement, Paul Robinson (CEO, KidsCo) said, “India is a key market for us as we continue our global expansion plan. We are really excited about adding NDTV to our existing partners as it understands that education is at the very top of the agenda for us and has historically built solid relationships with platforms who share this vision. The shows we will be offering are in keeping with our international audience and we anticipate great results.”
The programming of KidsCo includes animated and live action content and movies for family-viewing. Sonic Underground, The Wiggles, Ned’s Newt, Rescue Heroes and Nalong Fly to the Sky are some of the programs of KidsCo that will be marketed by NDTV in India.
KidsCo was founded by Canadian broadcaster Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises, America based producer DIC Entertainment and European broadcaster Sparrowhawk Media Group in April 2007. The channel’s main network is currently based in London.
The channel has presence in countries like Poland, Romania, Turkey, Hungary, Ukraine, Russia, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia, Cyprus and South Africa.
KidsCo will also be launched throughout France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and the United States in the future. The United Kingdom version will be launching sometime in 2010. But at the moment the channel is eyeing Indian broadcasting space worth Rs.26000 crores. The channel will have to face competition from existing players of the kids segment such as Pogo, Cartoon Network, Nick and Hungama.
